Komodo Open Labs Inc. (KOL) and George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technology (CCET) are collaborating to develop a production version of the Tecla Bluetooth interface for Android® and iPhones®. KOL’s Tecla is a set of open software and hardware tools that facilitate access to electronic devices for people with mobility impairments.
Prototype of an Electrathon Race Car
Electric vehicles are becoming more prevalent as the need for green and eco-friendly vehicles increases. The project team, with advisor, Professor Jamie McIntyre, will take on the challenge of creating an electrathon (electric) race car. As part of their final year engineering project, the student team will collaborate with Inertia Engineering and Design to design the electrathon car using CAD tools.
Voice Recognition Interactive Voice Response (IVR) for Home Automation
The goal of this project with Canadian Computer Technology is to develop a system that addresses the increased demand for home systems to provide interactive systems inside the house to control household devices and incorporate additional services that factor in healthcare and long term disability needs.
Implementation, field-testing, and demonstration of Low Voltage Flat Panel (LVFP) LED Lighting
The objective of this project is to implement and test a prototype system that will demonstrate the benefits of utilizing Low Voltage Flat Panel (LVFP) LED lighting (Redwood Lighting System) over the conventional fluorescent lighting systems found in most commercial/institutional buildings. This project partners with Convergineering the official Canadian dealership of Redwood Lighting Systems.
Multipurpose Desktop Prototyping System
As part of their final year project design course, a team of Mechanical Engineering students will design and build a prototype for a multipurpose desktop prototyping system for industrial design partner Ross and Doell. The goal of the project is to create a machine that is numerically controlled and capable of producing complex prototypes by combining a variety of different materials.
