Every year 250,000 Canadians suffer from Hospital-Acquired Infections, also known as “superbugs.” Of these, 8,000-12,000 die. We know that one of the most effective measures to slow the spread of these superbugs is also the simplest: good hand hygiene. Yet, hand-hygiene compliance rates in hospitals are as low as 40%.
City of Toronto & Toronto Centre for the Arts Main Stage Reconfiguration Project
Gilliam Group Inc. (Gillam) is a Toronto based construction company that has partnered with the City of Toronto to create two theaters at 5040 Yonge Street; the Lyric and Stage Tower Theater. Gillam will need to build three overhead catwalks in the Lyric without interfering with the existing electrical, plumbing, or structural elements concealed in the bowl and canoe shaped attic.

This project will build on the standardized Infection Prevention and Control Core Competency Education Program developed by the MOHLTC in collaboration with the Ontario Hospital Association, the Ministry of Labour, the Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC) and the Community and Hospital Infection Control Association (CHICA).
Family Practice of the Future
Waiting Room Design project is collaboration between St Michael’s Hospital and the George Brown College, Architectural Technician Program. St Michael’s Hospital worked with an architectural firm to design the Family Practice of the Future for their 80 Bond St location.
