Testing CertainTeed Smart Membrain and Blown-In Blanket
CertainTeed Saint-Gobain
This project will continue GBC’s ongoing research relationship established with CertainTeed under the ARGILE subproject: “Doug Tarry’s Optimum Basement Wall System” and will utilize the rooftop test hut located at GBC’s Casa Loma Campus to study the performance of CertainTeed/ Saint Gobain’s Smart Membrain™ product and their blown in Optima™ fiberglass batt insulation product. This will include the performance evaluation of their products in both new construction and solid masonry retrofit applications in North America. Six wall systems will be created for monitoring. The wall systems will be monitored for moisture performance, durability concerns, and drainage as well as their performance relating to solar gain and wind exposure. Data will be collected over at least a one-year period to study seasonal variances. Following the conclusion of the study, the GBC team will provide a detailed report to CertainTeed Saint-Gobain, which summarizes the key findings.
