Design and Development of a Human Resources Information System: Business and System Analysis
Pivotal Integrated HR Solutions (Pivotal)
Pivotal Integrated HR Solutions (Pivotal) and George Brown College (GBC) will collaborate on phase one of an expected two phase project to develop a modular web-based dashboard for Pivotal’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS). Pivotal is an Ontario-based business that provides outsourced human resource (HR) and payroll services across the country as well as temporary staffing services throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The current enterprise HRIS solutions available to Pivotal’s clients are too expensive and confusing for the needs of a small and medium enterprise (SME). This project will focus on providing Pivotal with a modular HRIS that caters specifically to the SME marketplace. Pivotal’s clients will be able to select the features and functions that they need without paying the full amount associated with purchasing a full-enterprise solution. Principal Investigator Tyler Krimmel M.A., Program Lead/Professor, Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies and Co-Investigator Carrie Pajotte, B.Eng, Professor, Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies, and students from the Information Systems Business Analyst program will work closely with Pivotal to elicit business and system requirements for Pivotal’s HRIS system. Work plan: project analysis and stakeholder identification; business modeling; and systems modeling. Successful completion of this project will allow for a follow up project which will include the development and software implementation of the HRIS system and front-end user interface. This project will ultimately allow Pivotal to provide their SME clients with a customizable HRIS software solution that is easy-to-use, affordable, and accessible online.
